Chaincase matt silver with black edge (16) to screw head channel. In production wheel rims matt silver with black lining (16), backplates and chaincase black (7)

Option of black (7) with wheels with black hubs (44) but tank remaining in maroon, chrome and gold (36).

1952 Generally as before but petrol tank in matt silver with maroon lining and matt silver for mudguards, stays, chaincase, chainguard, brake backplates, handlebars.
1953-63 Black (7) frame, forks, rear fork, headlamp shell, upper damper covers, oil tank, toolbox, fork yokes, hubs except 190 mm, details. Silver grey damper bodies. Chrome-plated mudguards, stays, chainguard, wheel rims unless light alloy, lower damper covers, fork oil seal holders. headlamp rim, exhaust system, handlebars, kickstart and gear levers. Petrol tank matt silver with chrome-plated side panels lined maroon (19) and fitted with round Gold Star badges. Alloy tanks polished or finished as steel ones. Some models for the USA had royal or Nutley blue tanks with gold lining and rear dampers to match. This applied from 1958 onwards and varied with the year and whether for East or West Coast machines
